Little Brown Jug was written in 1869 by Joseph Winner as a ‘drinking song’ and later a folk song. The Glenn Miller Orchestra recorded the song in Miller’s swing, big band instrumental arrangement in 1939 without the lyrics. The recording was successful and was then an iconic number on the Big Band scene.
